Age 67, died July 5, 2017 in Fargo, ND, resident of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Preceded in death by Parents Vernon and Dewey Knowlton. Graduated High School – Sioux Falls, SD, Bachelor’s Degree from University of Denver, Master’s degree from University of North Dakota, Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University of North Dakota, Postdoctoral work at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and Recently graduated from United Theological Seminary. Associate Provost for Student Success at Metro State, former Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs for Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. Former president for Dakota State University, Madison SD. Former Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, University of Minnesota - Crookston. Former Chair of Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of North Dakota. Survived by wife of 46 years, Sharon; sons Justin (Nicole) and Jordan; grandson Julian; granddaughter Blake; and brother Craig (Jackie). Visitation 5-7 PM Sunday, July 9, at Central Presbyterian Church, 500 Cedar St., Saint Paul. Service 11AM Monday, July 10. Memorials preferred to Metropolitan State University Foundation, Saint Paul, Attn: Doug Knowlton Memorial Gift; Dakota State University Foundation – Madison, South Dakota, Attn: Dr. Douglas and Sharon Knowlton Endowment; or Central Presbyterian Church.
