Loretta Maria, age 92, died peacefully Saturday, February 24, 2018. Born October 24, 1925 in St. Paul, MN to Joseph (of Lombardi Italy, 1885-1957) and Anna (nee Kroska, of Silver Lake, MN, 1890-1977) Dotty. She grew up working in her father’s restaurant, the Cozy Corner, downtown St. Paul. She married Clifford (Kip) Peltier (of Centerville, MN) in 1949. After a long career working for the Toni Company (Gillette) and serving as union secretary, she retired to Osakis with Kip in 1976. She was an accomplished cook and gardener, community volunteer, and cared for animals in need – as her children did. Loretta is survived by three grandchildren, Michael Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and Shawn Asseln; two great-grandchildren, Troy Asseln and Santana Salazar; and many extended family members. She was especially close to her brother Joseph and his wife Faine (nee Connolly) and their children Joseph, Paul, Mary, Pamala, Barbara, Monica, Carla, Lisa, and Katfish. She was preceded in death by her husband Kip; children Antoinette (Toni Asseln), Joseph, and Michael; and siblings Anna, Joseph, Paul, and Peter. Funeral Mass at the CHURCH OF ST. MARY, 261 E. 8th St, St. Paul, Saturday, March 3, 2018, 10:30am. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
