Pros of Cremation

• Cremation is often seen as a simpler way to dispose of the remains of a loved one.
• The cremation process is often less expensive as compared to ground burial. Depending on the family’s budget, this option allows the family to feel more at ease financially.
Memorial options for cremated remains are endless. The cremated remains can be buried, stored in a presentable urn, or even worn in cremation jewelry.
• Cremation is generally regarded as an environmentally friendly solution because it prevents cemeteries from expanding into natural resources.
• If families live apart and cannot return immediately to pay their last tribute to the deceased, cremation is a good option. After the cremation process is over, a memorial service can be planned where all the family members and friends of the deceased can come together to pay their respects.

Cons of Cremation

• The decision of cremation is final. There are no alternative options of disposal of the body. This is not in the case of burial. Even after years, a buried body can be exhumed and cremated on various grounds.
• The process of cremation requires extensive use of fossil fuels which increases carbon dioxide emissions and produce harmful mercury releases into the atmosphere.
• After the cremation process, a question may arise amongst the family members as who will be taking care of the ashes stored inside the urn. If more than one person wants to become a caretaker of the urn, it can cause tension amongst family members. Pre-planning can help avoid these situations.
