Alexander Felix Sopcinski, born January 28, 1931 and died June 20, 2020. Preceded in Death by Wife Diane, Son Brian. Survived by children Jeanne (Jim Twohy), Karen (Tim), Ken (Heidi); his beloved grandchildren Alex, Erin, Patrick, Christopher, Maria, Lucas. and Joe. Alex grew up in NE Minneapolis in a Polish neighborhood. He loved the many local eateries and Polish food. He started working for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad at 16 and continued there until his retirement. He served as a tank driver in the Korean War. In 1962 he married his beautiful bride, Diane, and settled in Northeast Minneapolis. Alex spent every summer since the 1970s at Big Island Campsite. He loved to cook, fish, and sit by the fire. He especially liked morning coffee on the Veranda. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and treasured their visits. The family is forever grateful to Jean, Gary, Irene, Mike, and Linda for watching out for him over the years up at the Lake. The family also appreciates his Minneapolis neighbors, Tom and Sharon, who watched over him as well. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, at the Church of St Odilia, 3495 Victoria Street, Shoreview. Visitation at church one hour before the Mass. Burial with Military Honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
