Elizabeth “Betty” Waschbusch (Sauro) October 20, 1937 - March 30, 2019

Betty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, just as she wished on March 30, 2019. She was born in St. Paul on October 20, 1937 to Josephine (Marzitelli) and Daniel Sauro. Betty grew up on the Levee. She attended Assumption Grade School, St. Joseph Academy High School, and the College of St. Catherine. She later received her Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota. Betty taught in the St. Paul school district for her entire career of 35 years. Betty married her high school sweetheart, Ed in 1959 and together they raised 3 devoted children, Ed, Laure and Michele (Tom Mingo). Grandma Betty loved playing cards with her 5 grandchildren: Mark, Leanne (Brian Sutcliffe), Emma, Macy and Holly. Her great-grandchild, Colton always made her smile. Betty adored and was adored by her entire extended family, sister Marie Conlin, brothers Dan (Aud) Sauro and Tom (Kathy) Sauro and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Josephine, and brother-in-law Bob Conlin. Betty and Ed spent many enjoyable years being snowbirds down in Fort Myers, Florida. She loved having family and friends visit to escape the cold Minnesota Winters. Betty bravely fought lung cancer for the past 6 years and was aided in her fight by many doctors and nurses at HealthEast Cancer Center at St. John’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to HealthEast Cancer Care: 1690 University Ave W, Suite 250, St. Paul, MN 55104.
