KATE NIEMEYER SCHULTZ February 13, 1943 - December 31, 2020

FEBRUARY 13, 1943 – DECEMBER 31, 2020

Mary Katherine (Kate) Niemeyer Schultz, age 77.  Kate was born on February 13, 1943 to Burdette and Arnold Niemeyer in St. Paul and passed away on December 31, 2020.

Kate is survived by her son, William (Will) Schultz, her brother, Trent Niemeyer, her sister, Nan Niemeyer Fergen and her niece and nephew, Stephanie and Henry Fergen as well as an extended family of cousins.

Growing up in St. Paul and Phoenix, Kate attended St. Luke’s Parish School.  She graduated from Our Lady of Peace Academy where she was editor of the high school newspaper.  She attended Marquette University and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Journalism and minor in art history; Kate was member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

After college, Kate started her career at Waldorf Paper where she was editor in chief of the in-house magazine and publications.  She transitioned to 3M where she spent 27 years as a marketing manager primarily in the Scotch Brand Video Packaging Division.  Kate earned multiple marketing awards and was honored for corporate excellence in 1986 through 1989.

After leaving 3M, Kate developed and owned a private practice, KataVita Health.  She practiced as a neuro muscular therapist, wellness consultant and educator for the next 12 years.  She obtained her Reike Healing Master status in 1991.

Kate’s lifelong love of art was reflected in her lovely home and sense of personal style.  She was an avid reader of self – development books and treasured time with her canine friends – Izzy, Ferdie, and Baxter.

Family and friends will miss her gentle nature, wisdom, and supportive presence.  Kate’s proudest accomplishment was raising her beloved son, Will.

Arrangements are being handled by Willwerscheid Funeral Home.  There will be a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery (2101 Lexington Avenue South, Mendota Heights, MN) on at 1 pm on Friday, January 8, 2021.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.

    So sad to hear of Kate’s passing. I will continue to hold you all in my prayers. We had a grand time at Our Lady of Peace and in later years. I did not receive this news until today or I would have been at
    the graveside service.
