Age 54, of Charleston, South Carolina, formally of Bemidji, Minnesota and born in Madrid, Spain, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 14, 2020. Preceded in death by brother, James T. Bergstrom. Survived by parents, Rodney Bergstrom (USAF Senior Master Sergeant, retired) and Maria Josefa Valdivieso-Bergstrom of Madrid Spain; children, David Escribano, Daniel Escribano (USAF Staff Sergeant, Veteran), Devin Escribano, Adriana Escribano, and Derek Escribano; and brother-in-law, Mark Sweere. Sandy was a graduate of Kaiserslautern High School, Kaiserslautern, Germany, and attended the University of Maryland, Munich, Germany. Always committed to learning, Sandy received her Pharmacy Assistant Diploma with highest honors from the Stratford Career Institute, in May of 2020. In life, Sandy was known as a selfless, loving, intelligent, free-spirited, and adventurous woman. She had a love for rock music, antique shopping, and, above all else, being a mother. Growing up in a U.S. Air Force family, which commonly relocated from country to country, allowed Sandy to develop a deep love for various cultures and communities. As such, she was fluent in three languages: Spanish, German, and English. Sandy lived a life filled with many ups and downs but maintained her kindhearted, graciousness through it all. Through her incredible fortitude and unrelenting strength, she deeply inspired everyone who came to know her. Sandy wholeheartedly believed in something greater than life itself, and her children and loved ones will be anxiously awaiting the day that they can all be there together again, in everlasting peace.
