Obituary of Marguerite Gignac Hedges

Marguerite Gignac Hedges With great sadness, Marguerite Gignac Hedges’s family announce her passing on May 4, 2022, at St. John's Hospital, Maplewood, MN. Her family Barb, Randy, and Theresa were by her side at the time of her death. Marguerite was born July 17, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario. She was a very proud French Canadian. Brought up with a lot of music in the family. She and her Uncle Phil were the entertainment during family get-togethers. She went to the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and studied to be an opera singer. From there did graduate work in Florence, Italy. Sang all over Europe, Canada, and the USA. She met her future husband while singing on stage and married in 1961. She had 3 children, Mary, Barbara, and Jane. Marguerite taught at the College of St. Catherine for 36 years teaching voice and having her students perform in an opera with an orchestra. She continued giving voice lessons well after her retirement. She enjoyed spending summers in Aspen, CO frequenting music festivals. Preceded in death by daughter Mary. Survived by daughters Barbara (Randal) and Jane; grandchildren David (Jessica), Sarah (Robert), Jennifer (William), Kevin (Stephanie), and Daniel; 8 great-grandchildren Isabelle, Michael, Grayson, Avery, Marcus, Nevaeh, Theodore, and Benjamin; also, her dear friend, Theresa Stead. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 11 at the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord, 1938 Stanford Ave., St. Paul. Visitation at Church 1 hour before the Mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Thank you to the Good Life Senior Living staff for their compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 11 at the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord, 1938 Stanford Ave., St. Paul. Visitation at Church 1 hour before the Mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
