Obituary of Martha J. Muska

Martha Jane Lee Muska age 96 died peacefully in her Naples, FL home following a brief illness on September 21, 2021. Martha was born in Detroit, MI on May 9,1925. She was predeceased in death by her husband, William (Bill) on July 4,1998. Martha and Bill were married on August 20,1949 at House of Hope Presbytarian Church in St Paul, MN. Bill and Martha established and operated the Muska Lighting Company on Grand Ave. in St Paul for many years until they sold Muska Lighting and retired in Naples, FL in the early 1990s. Muska Lighting still operates today with locations in Eden Prairie and Roseville, MN. Martha was also preceded in death by her younger sister, Donna at a very young age and her son, Donald. She is survived by her daughter, Meadow Muska of Savage, MN. Martha was a philanthropist and supported many charities in the ST Paul, MN area, including the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill (NAMI), and The St Paul Foundation. She also supported heart health and the American Hear Association by supplying many public buildings in St Paul and Naples ,FL with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) medical devices. She also paid for the training of many people to use AEDs. Martha’s favorite charitable passion was supporting the Albin Polasek Museum in Winter Park , FL. A bond between the Muska family and the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens in Winter Park, Florida was created when Emily Muska Kubat married Czech-American artist Albin Polasek in 1961. Emily Muska Polasek's nephew William (Bill) Muska and his wife Martha Lee Muska became regular visitors to Winter Park from that time on. Bill Muska served on the Polasek Board of Directors from 1985-1995. After Bill's passing Martha spent the last 24 years as the Museum's guardian angel and beloved cheerleader. Martha expressed her love and devotion in so many ways. She visited frequently, enthusiastically participated in Museum events and causes. Martha always said she did it in honor of Bill and Auntie Emily, both of whom she dearly loved. The Polasek Museum will forever miss her ready smile, giggle and abundant energy and love. Martha’s Funeral Service will be held 11AM Saturday, October 2nd at the Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave. St. Paul. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Visitation ½ hour prior to the service (10:30 - 11:00am). In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to the Albin Polasek Museum, 633 Osceola Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789 or a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral Service 11AM Saturday, October 2nd at the Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave. St. Paul. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Visitation ½ hour prior to the service (10:30 - 11:00am).
