Obituary of George Ann Bohl, CSJ

George Ann Bohl, CSJ Dependable, devoted, and determined to make a difference, this selfless servant was born Marcella Ann, on May 15, 1939 to George and Ann (Thell) Bohl. She died on June 25, 2021 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. In 1957 she entered the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, and was given the name "George Ann." After receiving a BA in Education and Theology from the College of St. Catherine (1962), she taught elementary education at St. Anne in LeSueur, MN, Guardian Angels in Hastings, MN, St. Pascal in St. Paul, MN, St. Thomas the Apostle in Minneapolis, MN, St. John the Baptist in Excelsior, MN, and St. Croix Valley Catholic in Stillwater, MN. In 1980 she left teaching to work at the St. Joseph Administration Center Business office and later spent nearly 20 years at Bethany Convent, serving as assistant director of community living and as part of the administration team. Among her many volunteer experiences were Catholic Charities, Midway Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, the Gift Shop at Carondelet Village, and tirelessly advocating for those in need, by writing letter after letter to legislators and presidents! As a sister of St. Joseph, George Ann always felt she was part of a "loving, caring, bonded together group of women, who used their talents to serve and change the world for the better." George Ann is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Robert; many nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and nephews; dear friends; and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM, in Our Lady of the Presentation Chapel, 1884 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights. Memorials preferred to the Sisters of St. Joseph Ministries Foundation. Sister George Ann, rest in love and peace. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM, in Our Lady of the Presentation Chapel, 1884 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
