Obituary of Deborah “Debbie” Ann Dovenmuehler

Loving Mother and Wife, Beloved Sister, Aunt, Great Aunt, Kind and Dedicated Teacher. Age 51, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 16, 2021, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Survived by husband, Kevin; son, Luke - who was her pride and joy, the great light of her life. Also survived by brother, Mark Hinterthuer and sister, Mary (Pat) Callahan; father-in-law, Carl Dovenmuehler; brother-in-law, Greg Dovenmuehler; nieces, Katie (Nick) VandenPlas and Maria Callahan; nephew, Matt Callahan; grandniece, Emma Mary VandenPlas; godson, Jason Schmitz; godmother/aunt, Mary Jane Heimel; many dear cousins, co-workers and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Elizabeth "Betty" Hinterthuer (Heimel). Teaching children was Debbie's calling and passion in life. In a career spanning 30 years, she shared the gift of education with countless students. Many families of students from St. Joseph's School in West St. Paul, where Debbie taught 1st and 2nd grade for over two and a half decades, have shared stories with her family about the long-lasting impact she had on them and their children. She touched so many people doing the work she was born and loved to do, yet she humbly never realized the impact she had on others' lives. Loved ones will always remember Debbie's kindness and smile and her joyful attitude, even during life's challenges. While she left this world sooner than any of us were ready for, we celebrate with grateful hearts the gifts of her love and companionship. Heartfelt gratitude for the loving care extended to Debbie by the staff of Our Lady of Peace Hospice. Visitation at the CHURCH OF ST.
