Obituary of Sister Ernesta Mahlmann, CSJ

Died on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Carondelet Village in St. Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Howe and Ernest Mahlmann, and her brother-in-law. Sister Ernesta's ministry was basically domestic duties, including working in food service and in the laundry at St. Agatha's Conservatory, the Seminary, and St. Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis as well as at St. John's Hospital, Fargo, ND and at Transfiguration, St. Paul and St. Eloi's in Ghent, MN. She also spent several years as a surgical nurse aide at St. Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis. Sister Ernesta is survived by her sisters, Marion Mahlmann and Rosemary Music; her two nieces, Melody Music and Merry (Kris) Paxton and their families; the Sisters of St. Joseph and Consociates; and her caregivers. A wake will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Carondelet Village, 525 South Fairview, St. Paul, MN, from 10:30-11:30 with the funeral liturgy following at 11:30. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund, 1884 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105.
