Obituary of Sigrid K. Quello

Nee Horneland Age 100, Sigrid was born May 13, 1914 in New Richland, MN and died June 5, 2014 at her home in St. Paul. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Victor Quello, parents, Rev. Carl and Marie (Mellby) Horneland and brother, Olaf Horneland. She will be dearly missed by daughters, Lynn Quello and Katherine Pekel; son, Stephen Quello; grandchildren, Troy Quello (Missy), Todd Quello, Kent Pekel (Katie), Jean Sanchez (Gerardo); nine great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Sigrid graduated from St. Olaf College, especially enjoying three years singing in the St. Olaf Choir. She loved choral singing and sang in choirs most of her life. She and college classmate Victor H. Quello were married after his graduation from Luther Seminary. For 64 years they shared a faith that gave joyful and meaningful purpose throughout life. Ever a gracious hostess, wonderful cook, artistic decorator, happy gardener and patient and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Sigrid enjoyed creating the sixteen homes she and her family shared over the years in Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, Virginia and Florida. Her favorite place for renewing body and spirit was Minnesota's North Shore. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 3:00pm at St. Paul Reformation Lutheran Church, 100 N. Oxford, St. Paul, MN 55104. Visitation at the church one hour before the service. Refreshments served afterwards. Private interment at a later date at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield, MN. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
