Mimi Titzler

Obituary of Mimi Titzler

On February 15th, 2023, Miriam Ruth (Olson) Titzler, good friend to many, loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother passed away lovingly surrounded by her family at the age of 81.

Known to most as Mimi, she was born to Wendell and Eva Olson on Sept 9th, 1941, in St Paul, Minnesota. She became a licensed practical nurse in 1961 and practiced nursing at hospitals in Minnesota, New York, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Liberia and later did clinical work for Planned Parenthood. She loved her work caring and advocating for the health and wellbeing of others.

While working at a summer camp in upstate New York, Mimi met and fell in love with Robert Titzler whom she married on May 28th,1967. Together, they raised two daughters, traveled the world, and built a cabin in Wisconsin's north woods which became the site for many fond family memories.

Her volunteer work included Y-teens, Methodist Ministries summer camp, Red Cross, League of Women Voters, Girl Scout leader, Block Nurse program, serving as an election judge, and championing a Methodist LGBTQ initiative.

Mimi was known as a great cook, an avid quilter, stellar gardener and hearty camper. A devoted mother and grandmother, she seized every opportunity to teach her children and grandchildren the value of hard work, empathy, gratitude, perseverance, and above all the ability to never take yourself too seriously. She was extraordinarily positive and kind and maintained a cheeky wit.

Mimi is survived by her loving husband Robertdaughters Ann (Eric) Singsaas and Meg (Eddie) Krekeler; siblings Elizabeth (Keith) Olstad, David (Nancy) Olson, and Alan (Jan) Olson; grandchildren Charlotte and Nate Krekeler; as well as beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by many.

Services will be held at Roselawn Cemetery Chapel, 803 West Larpenteur Ave, St Paul MN on Tuesday, February 21st at 1pm. Memorial donations can be made to Simpson Housing Services, Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, or Habitat for Humanity, all organizations Mimi felt strongly about.
