Obituary of Otis James Terrell

Otis James Terrell passed away on March 1, 2023, at 66 years old. He was born on November 4, 1956, to Pearlie Lee (Casey)Terrell and James Henry Terrell in Chicago, IL He was number 8 of 10 children. He attended DuSable High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1974 and received an honorable discharge. He met Juanita (Williams) Terrell. They were married from 1975 to 1982. He met his life partner, Yvette, in 1983. According to Otis, it was love at first sight!! He fell in love with her dreamy eyes. They shared an unbreakable bond that was tested many times in the 40 years they shared. Yvette & Otis married on August 13, 1985. They relocated the family to St. Paul, MN, in 1986, Where he calls home. He made a name for himself- known as “Eastside Otis”. Otis began working at age 13. While he primarily worked in the labor, service, and construction industries, He ultimately was an entrepreneurial broker who would make a way to provide for his family. He was always generous with his time, money, and connections. He was a dog lover who enjoyed family parties. While heartbroken by his passing, we find comfort that he is back where he wanted to be -with Yvette.

Otis was preceded in death by his wife, Yvette Terrell, mother Pearlie Terrell, Father, James Terrell, sisters Rowena and Beverly, Brother Kenny, and Grandsons. Otis leaves behind Sons (Otis, Larnell, Cortney, Bedale, and James), Daughters (Rashida Fisher, Fatima (Fisher) Womack, & Keenyada Shantinee (Terrell) Dillard), Siblings (Ronnie, Connie, Deloris, Peggy, Ella, and Lamarr), 10 grandchildren, and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
