



Obituary of Frances "Vicki" Swenson
Frances 'Vicki' Swenson age 82, died peacefully Monday, April 10th. She is preceded in death by daughter Lynda Swenson, parents Vincent and Clara, brothers John and Thomas Carroll and sister Marceline Carroll, and special family Leona Wilson. Vicki is survived by her husband of 56 years, Maurice (Maury), sons John and Tom, grandchildren Meranda and Michael, sisters Kathleen Cook and Mary (Michael) Schwietzer, and sisters-in-law Joanne (Tom) Carroll, Dianne (Patrick) O'Keefe, and Joann Freckelton. Also many nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Vicki was born May 10, 1940 in St Paul. She grew up across the street from Como Lake, and lived most of her life in Saint Paul. As a teen she loved reading movie magazines and catching up on celeb gossip, a habit that stayed with her. She married Maury on September 10, 1966; they enjoyed dancing polka at local dance halls on the south side. Vicki worked full-time for a local union, and devoted her extra time and retirement years to caregiving for their daughter Lynda. Vicki loved animals, including dogs, cats, and birds. She loved makeup and getting her hair done regularly. Vicki donated to numerous charitable causes whenever she was able. She attended Mass regularly, and her Catholic faith lifted her up during hard times. Vicki is remembered for her smile, generosity, and kind spirit.
Visitation Thursday 20 April 9-9:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, 239 Selby Avenue, Saint Paul 55102. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Assembly Area 4, 11:30am.
Memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice in Saint Paul, who provided excellent care for Vicki and her support network the last few months of her life.
