Obituary of Gordon Otto Genz

Age 88 Of West St. Paul, Passed away peacefully April 2, 2024, surrounded by family. Preceded in death by parents, Reinhold (Bill) Genz and Lorraine Genz. Survived by wife of 66 years, Virginia (Ginny) Genz; sons John, Mark, and Tom (Dani),and daughter Laurie (Kurt) Larson; grandchildren, John, Andrew, Alexandra, Nichole, Eric, Sarah,Erik, Brooke, Jeremy, and Matthew;great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Valerie, Casper, and Saga; brother, John (Lise) Genz, and sister, Lois Keefer. Gordy’s long teaching career included four decades as an iconic high school hockey coach. He was inducted into the Hamline University Athletic Hall of Fame, and the MN Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Funeral service 11am Saturday, April 6 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 460 W. Annapolis St, WestSt. Paul, MN 55118 with a visitation1 hour prior to the service atchurch. Family interment. Memorials preferred to St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church.
