Obituary of Phyllis "Phyl" Mae Tierney
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Phyllis “Phyl” Mae (Nadeau) Tierney of St. Paul, on April 4th, 2024. Phyl was a beloved wife, cherished mother of 10, grandmother, great grandmother, and devout Catholic whose life was a testament to faith, family, and unwavering love.
Born on Sept.17th,1929 to Leon and Carrie Nadeau, she embarked on a journey of selflessness and dedication. After marrying the love of her life, Michael, she embraced her role as a mother with unmatched grace, pouring her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding her children. Her home was a safe sanctuary for her family. It was a place where her warmth and compassion were present, where love flowed abundantly, the aroma of delicious cooking filled the air, and the chaos of children’s footsteps and chatter echoed endlessly.
Phyl exemplified the true essence of Catholic values, instilling in her children a profound sense of faith, morality, and compassion for others. Her devotion to her beliefs served as a guiding light, illuminating the path for her family, even in the darkest times.
Beyond her role as a mother, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Mark’s, particularly funeral luncheons. She also served as an election official for many years. Phyl’s passions, other than her family, were literature, music, and all sports.
In honoring Phyl’s memory, let us strive to emulate the profound love and steadfast faith that defined her life. May she rest in eternal peace with her heavenly Father, knowing that her legacy will endure for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Michael, son Joseph, brother Leon Nadeau, sisters and brothers-in-law Doris (Warren) Dufresne, Lorraine (Chuck) Cody, and son-in-law, Jake Mauer.
