Gerald D, MD "Jerry" McEllistrem, age 93, beloved husband, father, brother and friend. Passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Preceded in death by parents Marcus and Loretta, sister Joan and brother Marcus. Survived by wife of 65 years Marjorie; children Michael (Diane), Steven, Michele (Bob) Brin, Thomas (Deb), Mary Ellen (Steve) Toninato, Susan (Steve) Robinson, Jane (Bob) Shafer, Paul (Heidi), Molly (Steve) Seidl, Laura (David) Phillips, Sarah (Eric Rolig) and Megan (Ray) Ramirez; 39 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann (Melvin) Saign; brother Edward (Gloria); and sister Therese Olker; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry grew up on the east side of St. Paul and attended Cretin High School, St. Thomas College, and Creighton University Medical School. He became a urologist and practiced medicine until the age of 80, at which time he took up woodworking and began golfing with old friends. An avid runner and bicyclist, he completed many races over the years, including Grandma's Marathon, the Twin Cities Marathon, and Syttende Mai. And he loved the St. Paul Classic bike tour. A devout Catholic and devoted family man, he was also a widely respected doctor with many grateful patients. Jerry was a lifelong servant, in the finest meaning of that word, to all those around him. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Tuesday, January 4, at the Church of St. Matthew, 510 Hall Ave., St. Paul. Visitation at church from 9AM - 11AM. In lieu of flowers, Memorials preferred to the Church of St. Matthew. Covid protocols will be observed, and due to the pandemic, there will be no luncheon after the service. Private interment. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Tuesday, January 4, at the Church of St. Matthew, 510 Hall Ave., St. Paul. Visitation at church from 9AM - 11AM.
