Obituary of Shirley Westlie

Shirley (Dotten) Westlie, age 96, passed away peacefully at home May 23, 2021 with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton, brother Wayne, sisters Earleen and Ida Elizabeth. She is survived by her children Susan Westlie (Dennis Hale), Steven (Linda), and Polly (Todd) McGonagle. She was adored by her grandchildren Ian Seymour (Alisha), Andrew Seymour (Cassandra), Hunter Micklewright, Tyler Westlie (Hannah Hoovler), Claire Lauer (Brian), Andrea Westlie, Duncan McGonagle and great-grandchildren Valen, Kara, Mylah, Raya and Ava. She was born in Cromwell, MN in 1924 and lived through the Great Depression, Lindbergh's first transatlantic flight, was a WWII Navy veteran, a Betty Crocker Kitchens tour guide and lifetime member of the "The Bettys", founder of the Tonka Seniors Group at Minnetonka Lutheran, Honor Flight ambassador, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing filled her with more joy than spending time with her family. A heartfelt thank you to HealthPartners Hospice. Your dedication and loving care has been a precious gift. Funeral Service will be 11 AM Friday, June 11. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul, 651-228-1006. Interment service with Military Honors, 12:30 PM, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Honor Flight Twin Cities.
