Obituary of Pauline Capecchi DeMars

Age 92, of West St. Paul A woman of faith and strength passed away peacefully on June 13, 2016. Pauline was born on March 10, 1924 in Dazey, ND to George and Maria Berger. Pauline was a child of the Depression and Dust Bowl era and exemplified the hard work and perseverance of her generation. After raising a family she worked as a cashier at the Red Owl grocery for many years and then at the St. Paul Country Store. She enjoyed traveling the world, summer vacations at the lake, visiting family in North Dakota, gardening, needlework and cooking the family’s favorite Italian dishes. Preceded in death by parents, George and Maria Berger; first husband, Joseph Capecchi; second husband, Richard DeMars; son, Jimmy Capecchi; siblings, Bill Berger, Mathilda Wieland, Katie Schnell, Joe Berger, Theresa Candella, Francis VanRemortal, Edward Berger and Julia Hager; and stepdaughter, Connie Kurkowski. Survived by children, Joe (Eileen) Capecchi, John (Sue) Capecchi, Donna (Paul) Larson, Jerry (Becky) Capecchi, and Dianne (Mark) Gibbs; stepchildren, Phil Kurkowski, Kirk DeMars, Ann (Ken) Hansen and Scott (Jean) DeMars; 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Special thanks to Rosie, Nate, Mitch and all the staff at Langton Place. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Monday, June 20 at the CHURCH OF ST. JOSEPH, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul 4-8 PM Sunday and at church 1 hour prior to Mass.
