Obituary of Howard R. Hinterthuer

Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Korean War Veteran Age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Heimel) and brother, William “Bill” Hinterthuer. Survived by children, Mark Hinterthuer, Mary (Pat) Callahan and Debbie (Kevin) Dovenmuehler; grandchildren, Katie, Matt, Maria and Luke; sisters-in-law, Fran Hinterthuer (Heimel) and Mary Jane Heimel; brother-in-law, Dr. Albert Heimel and many loving nieces and nephews. Upon graduation from the University of WI-Madison in 1955, where he earned a degree in Economics and active duty in the U.S. Army in Korea, Howie’s career spanned time at Home Mutual Insurance Co. and 25 plus years at West Publishing Co. He found extreme joy when he could be found in the great outdoors fishing, ice boating and ice fishing, sailing, golfing, duck hunting, being “up at the lake”, playing Bridge, and viewing his Green Bay Packers (hometown of Neenah, WI), Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Gophers football games. Howie’s family extends heartfelt gratitude for the loving care bestowed upon him by his caregivers, Bob and Linda Lennartson, their entire family, Steve, Carol and his fellow friends who embraced him as one of the family for the past 5 years. A special thank you to the Allina Health Hospice staff. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 1 at the CHURCH OF ST. JOSEPH, 1154 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation at Church 9:30 to 11:00 AM Tuesday. Memorials preferred to St. Joseph’s School, 1138 Seminole Ave., West St. Paul, MN 55118.
