Obituary of Katherine P. Daltas

Daltas, Katherine, Age 97, of Saint Paul. Passed on to be with our Lord On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015. Katherine graduated from Central High School in 1938 and went to work at Twin Cities Arsenal during World War II. During this time she also found time to volunteer as a canteen worker for the American Red Cross. After the war ended, she finally found her future at the University of Minnesota, being employed as a Junior Scientist. Katherine was a "poster girl" of the "greatest generation". She was a remarkable, highly intelligent, and proper woman. She had a stylish knack for fashion. Devoted to her family, church, and kitty Coco, she lived life to the fullest. She was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the choir, philoptochos, and Daughters of Penelope. Her strength and independent nature empowered those who were fortunate to have had her in their lives. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by parents Apostolos and Athanasia; sister Hilda Daltas; brothers John, Spero and Theodore (Ruth) Daltas. Survived by sister Evelyn Daltas; sister-in-law Adella Daltas; nephews Arthur (Ellen) Daltas, Paul (Nancy) Daltas and Philip Daltas; nieces Kathy (Frank) Viola and Diane (Glen) Vanderhorst-Roseland; great-nieces Tami (Greg) Matti, Jennifer (David) Larson, Jessica (Ryan) Carlson, Dara (Dan) Schwartz, Brittany (Anthony) Gonzalez, Kaley Viola, Libby (Robert) Price, and Anne Peckam; great-nephews Ted (Erin) VanDerhorst, Christopher Daltas, James Daltas, John Daltas, Daniel Daltas, Michael Daltas, Frank Viola III, Andrew Daltas, Alex (Robin) Daltas, and Sam Peckam. Funeral service 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 2, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1111 Summit Ave., St. Paul. Visitation 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul. Trisagion Prayers beginning at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
