Obituary of Norman Bernard Melchior

Passed to his heavenly home on Friday, October 16, 2015. Born in St. Paul, MN on June 27, 1929. Preceded in death by parents, Bernard and Ruth Melchior, sister, Ellen and brother-in-law, James McManus. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Doretta; children, Michael (Lynn), Patrick (Brenda), Sheila (Joe) Kryjeski, John (Nadine) and Tim (Kendall) (Lynn Melchior), niece, Calleigh Wenzel (Nee McManus) and nephew, Tom McManus; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Retired Marine having served in Korea on the Chosin Reservoir where he earned a Purple Heart. After retiring from the Marines, he spent 40 years as a special projects manager for Burlington Northern followed by 15 years with Page Aviation. Norm spent his entire life in the West 7th Community and assisted many volunteer organization. Visitation 4-8 PM Tuesday at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Wednesday, October 21 at the CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION, 51 W 7th Street, St. Paul. A luncheon will follow. Interment with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
