Callan Reinhardt

Obituary of Callan Thomas Reinhardt

Callan Thomas Reinhardt was born June 30, 2010 and ran into the arms of Jesus on May 27, 2015 at the tender age of “almost five”. Those who loved him called him Super Cal and formed a faithful group called TEAM CAL. Cal was treated at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital for Medulloblastoma, a pediatric brain tumor. Despite 15 months of aggressive therapy, God had other plans for this sweet boy. Cal loved everything superhero, Pixar and Disney. He loved eating popcorn and watching movies. He fell in love with soundtracks to his favorite shows and listened to them tirelessly. He had his own music playlist and loved being deejay for dance parties in his living room. He loved riding his bike, going to the cabin and jumping on beds. He loved anything “boy”- cars, trains, planes, trucks and whoopee cushions. Cal especially loved his parent Lucy an Tim and his best friend and older sister Annabelle (7 yo). He wouldn’t hesitate playing babies and Barbies with her for hours. Cal’s message to TEAM CAL was inspiring to many. While he was too young to understand the perils of cancer, he taught us unadulterated love, courage in weak moments, strength when we wanted to crumble and gratitude in daily gifts from God. Cal opened eyes of friends and strangers to slow down, love more, give often and laugh always. He showed us the beauty and grace that comes with selfless love. We send a heartfelt thank you to all of TEAM CAL who have been our prayer warriors through each tear and celebration. We are indebted to our employers Robert Half and U of M Health, Div of Hematology, Oncology and Blood/Marrow Transplantation for their steadfast compassion. We thank Dr. Christopher Moertel, Tammie Dahlheimer, CNP and Dr. Heather Stefanski, all the inpatient and outpatient oncology staff and home hospice for their genuine love. Mostly we thank our family Thomas and Lisa Reinhardt (Minnetonka), Daniel and Linda Schaefer (Reads Landing), Simmon and Holly Schaefer (Apple Valley), Brandon and Melissa Weis (St Louis Park), and Tony and Rebecca Washington (Savage). A special thank you to the cousins that could always make Cal laugh: Joshua, Brady and Samantha Schaefer, Keenan, Jude, and Luke Weis, and Savannah, Sierra and Caleb Washington. Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Tuesday, June 2 at the Church of St. Peter, 1405 Sibley Memorial Hwy., Mendota.
