Obituary of John Engh

Age 88, passed away May 20, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Sand) Engh; daughters Barbara Engh, Betsy Trevathan and husband Steve, sisters Margaret, Marilyn, Helen, and grandchildren John, Sam, Mady, and Libby Trevathan. Preceded in death by parents Oswald and Alma Engh, brother Robert, and daughter Jenny. Randy was born in New Rockford, North Dakota on December 30, 1926. He spent most of his childhood in Baudette, Minnesota. At age 17 he was drafted into the Army engineering program and continued his education graduating with a BA from Augustana College in 1949. He received a MS from University of North Dakota and was a teacher of math and physics for several years. He joined Control Data in 1958 as a computer programmer where his good humor and talents for teaching, teamwork, and management thrived. He retired to the Rainy River in 1987 and enjoyed fishing, gardening, furniture restoration and visiting with friends and family. A special thank you to the caring staff at White Pine Memory Care and Interim Healthcare Hospice staff. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 1 at St Stephen's Lutheran Church, 1575 Charlton Street, West St. Paul. Visitation begins at 10 AM. Lunch to follow. Burial with honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church or Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
