Obituary of John Manahan

Age 31, of Washington D.C., formerly of Mendota Heights, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2015. He is survived by parents Timothy and Linda, brother Brian and sister Margaret, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Jack graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School and went on to Marquette University where he participated in the Army ROTC program and attained the rank of Cadet Colonel, serving as commander of the Cadet Brigade. Upon graduation Jack was commissioned as a 2LT in the US Army. Jack served in Korea, returned to Fort Carson Colorado where he was promoted to Captain and was then deployed to Iraq where he served with distinction. Upon his return, Jack was discharged from the Army and in 2012 after months of training, was appointed as a Special Agent in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, US Department of State. In that capacity Jack conducted federal criminal investigations and provided protection services for foreign dignitaries, US diplomats and the Secretary of State. Jack was a strong, witty, loving and intensely loyal man. He was a wonderful son and brother who touched many during his short life. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by his family and many great friends. Memorials preferred to The Wounded Warrior Project or Marquette University Army ROTC program. Mass of Christian Burial 1:00PM Saturday, April 11 at the Church of St Joseph, 1154 Seminole Ave, West St Paul. Visitation 12:00 – 1:00PM. Reception will follow the Mass. Private burial with honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
