Obituary of Peter M. Laramy

Born Sept 18, 1930, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Died October 18, 2022, in Arden Hills, Minnesota at the age of 92. Preceded in death by parents Jay and Blossom; wife of 48 years Rita; brother Jay M.; sister Marilyn ‘Sis’ Canniff. Survived by wife Betty; children Peter J. (Lynn), Kathy Glynn (Rich), William G. (Kathy), Mary Dupay (Mike), Elizabeth Georgantones (Jim), and John S. (Susan); 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; dear relatives and friends including Jeanne Laramy and the Burrows family. Graduate of Cretin High School, Class of 1948, attended St. Thomas College and the U of M. Member of the Air Force ROTC, Air Force Reserve was active duty during the Korean War. He worked 40 years in the paint & hardware rep business and retired in 1994 as president of the Laramy Co., Inc. He was active in many organizations including; Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, St. Paul Athletic Club, SCORE, and Pool & Yacht Club. Peter enjoyed golf at Mendakota and Southview Country Clubs. At 18, Peter became active in the St. Paul Winter Carnival. He served on the ’51 King’s Guard, ’64 Vulcan Krewe and as ’70 Fire & Brimstone President, ’76 Vulcanus Rex XXXIX. In 2007 received the King Coal Award for outstanding service. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday, October 25, at the Church of St. Odilia, 3495 Victoria St. N., Shoreview. Visitation Monday, October 24, 4 -7 PM at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul, 651-228-1006 and at church 1 hour before the Mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice, St. Odilia Catholic Church, or Cretin-Derham Hall.
