Obituary of Stella Katherine Lake

Lake, Stella K (Georgantones), age 91, of St. Paul, passed away on June 19, 2023. She was a graduate of Mechanic Arts High School St. Paul. She started her career working in the Insurance industry and later for the St. Paul School district after raising her three loving sons. Preceded in death by her husband Alex, parents Pete and Katherine Georgantones, sisters: Mary (George) Boosalis, Jennie (Larry) Kirk, and brother Chris Georgantones. Survived by her sons: John (Kara), Nicholas (Martha), and James. Grandchildren: Alexis (Stewart) Utter, Katherine Lake, Alex (Elise) Lake, Madilene Lake, Bethany (Wil) King. Great grandchildren: John Alex her "John-John" and William Burton Utter, Adelaide, Eloise, and Mary Caroline Lake. Stella loved and enjoyed good times with her nieces and nephews. She was a lifelong and active member of St George Greek Orthodox Church. In her younger years, she sang in the church choir and, in her later years, was an active member of both the Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. She held leadership positions as well as chairing many fundraising and festive events. She was a Member of the American Legion Hellenic Post #129 Auxiliary. Stella will be remembered as a strong and independent woman who many counted as a friend and was always willing to help those in need. She will be greatly missed by all. Visitation 4:00 pm -7:00 pm Monday, June 26, with Trisagion service at 6:30 pm at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave. Funeral service 10:00 am Tuesday, June 27 at St. George Greek Orthodox Service 1111 Summit Ave St. Paul.
