Obituary of Duane Dunton Steuart

Steuart, Duane of Saint Paul, MN, passed away on June 11, 2023 at the age of 81. Duane was born in Owatonna, MN to Donald and Ada Steuart. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1960 and from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from the Carlson School of Business in 1966. Following college, Duane's hometown buddy of 60+ years, Ret. Commander Al Rypka, swore him into the Navy and reports that they were among the 8 "elite few" of the 40 in their flight training class to earn their wings. Duane served as an aircraft carrier pilot during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1972. Duane attended Control Data Institute following his discharge from the Navy and was recruited by Digital Equipment Corporation where he was a computer repair tech for over 20 years. He retired at 68 from Honeywell. Duane was a man of deep faith and an active member of the congregation of Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church in Bloomington, MN for 40 years. He was a lover of music, cards, scrabble, and all things mechanical. Duane is survived by daughter Kelly England, Saint Paul, MN, son Matthew Steuart (Amy), Minneapolis, MN, granddaughter Samantha Steuart, Minneapolis, MN, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Thomas Kraus, Chanhassen, MN, and numerous beloved nephews, nieces, grandnephews, a grandniece, and friends. Duane is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Ada Steuart, Owatonna, MN, brother and sister-in-law Ronald & Marie Steuart, Covington, KY, and sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Ted Hedrick, Plymouth, MN. A visitation and service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 visitation at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am at the Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church, 9920 Normandale Blvd, Bloomington, MN 55437. An interment will take place immediately following the service at Fort Snelling followed by a reception at the England home.
