Hazel Leaskas

Obituary of Hazel Rozella Leaskas

Our beloved mother was born in Little Falls, MN to Charles and Alice Larson.  Hazel had two brothers whom she treasured, Donald (Shirley) Larson and Richard (Jan) Larson.  The family eventually moved to St Paul, MN where Hazel met her husband, Nick Leaskas.  They were married in 1954.

Hazel was a very loving, kind, funny, sweet soul.  She was a beautiful girl and woman.  She learned the Greek language and was fluent.  She also learned to cook Greek cuisine and was a Greek Orthodox Christian and longtime member of St George’s Greek Orthodox Church.  She worked full time at Power Brake & Equipment Company as an Inventory Specialist.  She was a devoted mother and Grandmother (YiaYia) and lived for her family.  Mom never liked to make plans because something could come up, and she was usually right.  She loved to watch her daytime shows, call her family to catch up, visit with her neighbors, snuggle her little dog GiGi and go SHOPPING.

Mom was always available to us anytime day or night.  She never judged, and she gave loving advice.  She was a best friend to her children and grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.  Her soft loving nature was amazing.  She loved her grandchildren so much.  She made Christmas a marathon and unforgettable year after year.  Shopping trips with YiaYia were the best.  She had so much energy.

It was our pleasure to care for her.  A special thank you to everyone who cared for her.  She will live on in our hearts forever.

Preceded in death by her husband Nick.  Survived by Daugter, Eftehia Mia (Mike) Bakker, Son, Kosta (Diana) Leaskas, grandchildren Brittney Kirk, Alexandra Leaskas, Jase (Alicia Stock), Jaren and Eleni Bakker , God Children  Peter Leaskas (Laura), Maria McKinney, Nate Zubulake, Angie (Kappos) Kelsey and many nieces, nephews and close family friends.
