Obituary of Richard William McCarthy Jr.

Richard W. McCarthy Jr., age 75, of St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully with family present on Dec. 8, 2023. Preceded in death by his brother Timothy, Richard is survived by five brothers and a sister as well as by his wife of 53 years, Dāna; his children: Gregory (Suzy) of Maplewood, Andrew (Lan) of Roseville, and Liza (Michael) of Duluth; and five young grandchildren: Teien Rose, Abigail, Amelia, Clifford and Fletcher.

A gifted artist, Richard was a man of deep intelligence and expansive knowledge with a great love for the earth and all its inhabitants. He had a quick yet gentle wit and a generous and compassionate heart. He will be greatly missed. 

There will be a Memorial Mass for him at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (2357 Bayless Place, St. Paul) on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 am. Please send any memorial donations in his honor to:
