Obituary of Michael J. Casalenda

Michael J. Casalenda, 94, of West Saint Paul, passed away on December 15, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Stanislaus, 398 W. Superior St.,Saint Paul.

Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Avenue, Saint Paul, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial at Resurrection Cemetery.

Survived by his children, Marilyn (Lynn) Hanson, Shelly (Tom) O’Brien, Michael (Debby), Marty, Mario (Colleen); grandchildren, Lynn Michael (Melissa) Hanson, Matt Hanson, Angie O’Brien, Mike (Paula) Casalenda, Theresa (Mike) Closmore, Nick Casalenda, Ryan Casalenda, Tony (Jess) Casalenda, Dominic (Ellen) Casalenda, Gina (Jake) Winberg; 14 great grandchildren + 1 on the way; siblings, Gloria Azzone, Joe Casalenda, Dick Casalenda, and many other loving relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna; granddaughter, Katie Rose O’Brien; brothers, Sam, Walter (Blackie); sisters: Violet Huber, and Laurie Kane.

Michael worked as a machinist for 42 years at BNSF Railroad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice. Our Dad’s passing at Our Lady of Peace was the next best thing to his wish of passing at home. We are forever grateful for the loving and special care he received there.
